Pierce
Brosnan isn't just a movie and TV superstar, best known for his role as James
Bond; he is also a passionate social activist -- actively involved with many organizations
addressing environmental, conservation, women's healthcare and children's issues.
Pierce Brosnan is an International Ambassador for UNICEF. He and fellow Irish
UNICEF Ambassador, Liam Neeson, recorded a video message for "UNICEF's Unite
For Children - Unite Against AIDS" campaign.
Pierce
Brosnan is also a painter, and the proceeds from the sale of his works are given
to the many charities he supports. When he and his wife Keely Shaye were married,
they donated the proceeds they received from media coverage to fund a Tibetan
school for children. Pierce and his wife volunteer their time for a number of
environmental causes such as marine mammal and wetland protection, and anti-nuclear,
clean air and clean water campaigns. They have received many honors for their
humanitarian work, including awards from the American Oceans Campaign, Environmental
Media Association, Heal the Bay, the Natural Resources Defense Council, Women
In Film, and an Environmental Leadership Award from Green Cross International
President, Mikhail Gorbachev.
