QUOTES
"There
must be, not a balance of power, but a community of power; not organized rivalries,
but an organized peace. -- Woodrow Wilson.
"You
cannot be friends upon any other terms than upon the terms of equality." -- Woodrow
Wilson
"There
is such a thing as a man being too proud to fight. There is such a thing as a
nation being so right that it does not need to convince others by force that it
is right." -- Woodrow Wilson
"Victory
would mean peace forced upon the losers, a victor's terms imposed upon the vanquished.
It would be accepted in humiliation, under duress, at an intolerable sacrifice,
and would leave a sting, a resentment, a bitter memory upon which the terms of
peace would rest, not permanently, but only as upon quicksand." -- Woodrow Wilson
"I
want to re-echo my hope that we may all work together for a great peace as distinguished
from a mean peace." -- Woodrow Wilson
"It must be a peace without victory … Only a peace between equals can last." --
Woodrow Wilson
Since
trade ignores national boundaries and manufacturers insist on having the world
as a market, the flag of the nation must follow him and the doors of the nations
which are closed against him must be battered down. Concessions obtained by financiers
must be safe-guarded by Ministers of State, even if the sovereignty of an unwilling
nation be outraged in the process. Colonies must be obtained or planted in order
that no useful corner of the world may be overlooked or left unused.
