QUOTES
I
envision a world in which the actions of individuals, businesses, governments
and other institutions reflect the reality of global interdependence in which
the quality of life, that is, the well-being of each person and all life is essential
to the well-being of all of us.
We,
The World is dedicated to bringing about a new vision of a world where every life
matters. In this world, societies are organized to cultivate holistic health of
body, mind and spirit in which individuals look upon themselves and all other
life with compassion, caring, cooperation and goodwill.
While
some people are most fulfilled and productive when they contribute to society
in a "direct" way such as by volunteering at a soup kitchen, or running an anti-violence
youth program, others, like many of us at We, The World, prefer to work with and
bring together numerous social concerns organizations and individuals for the
purposes of achieving greater and more lasting results -- even if it requires
additional effort, takes longer, and is less immediately "direct." Both styles
of service are necessary in an effective global movement to create a caring world.
