Byubyusara Ryskulova started the first organization in Kyrgyzstan devoted to preventing domestic violence. Her organization provides legal, economic and psychological protection for victimized women and their families and works to educate the Kyrgyz public about human rights by organizing seminars, campaigns, protests and other educational programs. Byubyusara Ryskulova's work also includes advocating for the human rights of the poor and for young people who have been victims of violence. She was nominated for the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize as part of the 1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize project.
