Sandra
Postel is one of the world's leading experts on international water issues. As
the director of the Global Water Policy Project she works to promote the preservation
and sustainable use of our planet's fresh water ecosystems. She has written hundreds
of articles on the subject and several books including, Last Oasis: Facing
Water Scarcity, which was developed into a PBS documentary and was the co-author
of Rivers for Life: Managing Water for People and Nature, which urges the
adoption of new approaches to balance human water needs with ecosystem needs.
In 2002, Scientific American magazine named Sandra Postel as one of the top 50
contributors to science and technology for her dedication to bringing "sweeping
changes aimed at preserving the world's dwindling supplies of freshwater."
