Holly Near has been a powerful voice for humanity for over 30 years, recording over 20 albums, and using her music to write and sing for a better world. She is a peace activist and advocate for human and civil rights, urging for a holistic approach to changing the world as opposed to focusing on any one particular issue. She was one of the first women in the US to start her own record label, and for 20 years helped promote socially conscious artists from around the world. She has been a major force in encouraging the gay and lesbian community to have a global consciousness in the effort to overcome racism and sexism and create a more peaceful, just and sustainable world for all. Holly Near was chosen as one of the "1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize” in 2005.
