Lavigne is a Grammy-nominated Canadian pop singer and Hollywood actress. Signed
to a record contract at 16, she was named "Best New Artist" at the 2002
MTV Video Music Awards, and has gone on to sell more than 26 million records.
Avril Lavigne is a vegetarian and has been involved with many charities, including
Amnesty International and War Child. She recorded the John Lennon song "Imagine"
for a CD compilation to raise funds for Amnesty International, and Bob Dylan’s
“Knocking on Heaven’s Door” for a CD to support War Child.
