Leopold Kohr was an economics professor who argued against the current economic system based on an ever-expanding economy. He advocated a return to life in small communities believing that they could best solve local problems with their own material and intellectual resources. He received the Right Livelihood Award in 1983 for "his early inspiration of the movement for a human scale."
