Albert
Einstein's name has become synonymous with the word 'genius.' His revolutionary
scientific and mathematical theories about energy, space and time made him the
most famous scientist during the early 1900s, and he is still one of the most
important people in history. Albert Einstein is also often thought of as the 'father
of the atomic bomb.' Although Dr. Einstein did urge President Roosevelt to develop
the bomb before the Germans did during World War II, and his theories provided
the foundation for its development, he didn't have much to do with the actual
creation of the first atomic bomb. After the atomic bomb was used by the United
States on Japan, Albert Einstein deeply regretted his involvement and spent the
rest of his life advocating for the abolition of nuclear weapons. He also spoke
out continually for the cause of peace and nonviolence and international law as
the only way our world can survive.
