Leonardo
Di Caprio is one of the world's most popular actors in Hollywood films. He began
his acting career in television commercials as a child, then graduated to television
shows. From there he went on to leading roles in movies like Titanic, Gangs of
New York, and The Aviator, winning Golden Globe awards Oscar nominations for his
work in these and other films. In the late 1990s, having achieved much acclaim
for his acting, he turned his attention to helping the less advantaged in the
world and to his life-long concern for the environment. Because of his diligence
in speaking out on behalf of conservation and ecology throughout the world, he
was named chairman of Earth Day, 2000 and later that year interviewed President
Clinton on a television special about the depletion of the ozone layer. Since
then, he has joined Global Green USA, received many awards for his environmental
work, and maintains a comprehensive "eco-site" on the internet.
