It
is important to recognize what an alien concept the evolution of consciousness
actually is in our culture. We are almost never encouraged to grapple with our
own evolutionary potential at such a fundamental level, and as a result, most
of us have never even considered it. Think about it, just for a moment: What would
it be like for my self to evolve in its very essence? What would it be like to
develop and grow at a level so profound that I would never be able to see it and
yet others would be able to recognize its expression? If we can even begin to
look deeply into this question, mysteriously we will already be participating
in the very evolution of consciousness I've been speaking about. And if we pursue
it wholeheartedly, we will be helping to make conscious a miraculous process that
was born many billions of years ago in a flash of light and energy, and is only
now beginning to awaken to itself, through us.
Everybody
wants to get enlightened but nobody wants to change.
Human
beings aren't here just to be detached, we're here to participate.
Whenever
a human being ceases to live for themselves and begins to care about that which
is greater than themselves, the personality begins to experience ecstasy, joy
and spontaneous liberation. And that's found through doing, through action, through
giving, through deeply embracing the human experience.
Enlightenment…
is the direct realization of the dual nature of the glory of God as the inherent
perfection of all things and a ceaseless imperative to evolve. In that realization,
there is not only the release form the hypnotic grip of ego consciousness but
also the ecstatic movement of energy that occurs only through submission to the
creative principle. What is so precious about human life is our sacred potential
to experience this glory in our own hearts and minds and, by so become a conscious
instrument of it.
