Robert
Bullard, the Director of the Environmental Justice Resource Center at Clark Atlanta
University, has been called the "Father of the Environmental Justice Movement."
He has written more than a dozen books on social justice issues, including sustainable
development, environmental racism and community reinvestment. Robert Bullard's
work has helped to redefine the environmental movement by showing that "the
environment" is more than the physical and natural world, it is also includes
everything around us -- where we live, work, play and go to school. Everyone should
be entitled to live in healthy and safe communities, but our economic and political
systems force many people to live in unhealthy and unsafe conditions. The Environmental
Justice Movement seeks to empower communities to organize so that they can have
more control over the health and well-being of their communities.
