I
think people are genuinely seeking spirituality.
There's a simple reason for this. In the midst
of the daily grind of life, it's easy to forget
we have a spirit, and we can get depressed, even
sick. We are spirits as well as bodies, and spirits
need nourishment.

We
are all spirits. We get depressed. But music makes
you want to live. I know my music has saved my

“You
cannot prevent the birds of sadness from passing over
your head,
but you can prevent their making a nest in your hair”
-- Chinese Proverb
If
I had not been already been meditating, I would
certainly have had to start. I've treated my own
depression for many years with exercise and meditation,
and I've found that to be a tremendous help.

“So
often we dwell on the things that seem impossible
rather than on the things that are possible. So
often we are depressed by what remains to be done
and forget to be thankful for all that has been
done.”
-- Marian
Wright Edelman

Remember
sadness is always temporary. This, too, shall pass.
-- Chuck T. Falcon
Certainly,
I think being depressed is absolutely part of
the human condition, it has to be, if there's
joy there's its opposite, and it's something you
ride if you possibly can.
-- Bob Geldof
But if somebody dies, if something happens to
you, there is a normal process of depression,
it is part of being human, and some people view
it as a learning experience

Common sense dictates that we evaluate our beliefs
on the basis of how they affect us. If they make us
more loving, creative, and wise, they are good beliefs.
If they make us cruel, jealous, depressed and sick,
they cannot be good beliefs.
-- Barbara Marx Hubbard |
When
we're unemployed, we're called lazy; when the whites
are unemployed it's called a depression.

"Through
our willingness to help others we can learn to be happy
rather than depressed."
-- Gerald Jampolsky
One
must not let oneself be overwhelmed by sadness.
-- Jackie Kennedy
Concern
should drive us into action and not into a depression.
No man is free who cannot control himself.
-- Pythagoras
Sadness
is a natural reaction to awakening to see the way
things are. But we can either become depressed and
lost in our sadness, or decide to use this awakening
to inspire us
to work to change things to the way we wish they
could be.
-- Robert Alan Silverstein
