Skoll Award for
Social Entrepreneurship
Recipients

Jeff Skoll

The Skoll Foundation was started in 1999 by Jeff Skoll who made his fortune as eBay's first president. The foundation's mission is to help to catalyze social change by supporting and celebrating social entrepreneurs -- people who are finding new and innovative ways to solve the world's most pressing problems, including "environmental sustainability, health, tolerance and human rights, institutional responsibility, economic and social equity, and peace and security." The Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship are given out each year to social entrepreneurs who have shown they are making a difference in the world, allowing them to expand and replicate their successes. Some of these social entrepreneurs are featured on this website.
