Champions of the Earth

The United Nations Environment Programme recognizes outstanding environmental leaders by presenting the Champions of the Earth award to encourage "worldwide replication of the achievements of the Champions." This award was established in 2004 to replace the Global 500 Roll of Honour which was discontinued in 2003. Some Laureates are included here - for more information: www.unep.org/champions
